Cocoa flower which belongs to the family of Sterculiacees is quite small, it measures from 1 to 2 cms. It is generally of white color, slightly tinged with yellow or pink. It grows in very large number during several months of the year. .

Pod is the fruit of the cocoa. Thousands of flowers grows every year on the cocoa tree but they will give only some tens of pods. A correct maintenance of the tree, by the clearing and the size allows to increase inflorescenece and number of pod produced.

The cocoa bean is especially remarkable for the quality and the interest of its biochemical composition If consists for the greater part of butter of cocoa and of proteins its main characteristic is to contain approximately 2 % of theobromine.
